What is a Hacker

Hacker is a term used by some to mean "a clever programmer" and by others, especially those in popular media, to mean "someone who tries to break into computer systems."
1) Eric Raymond, compiler of The New Hacker's Dictionary, defines a hacker as a clever programmer. A "good hack" is a clever solution to a programming problem and "hacking" is the act of doing it. Raymond lists five possible characteristics that qualify one as a hacker, which we paraphrase here:
  • A person who enjoys learning details of a programming language or system
  • A person who enjoys actually doing the programming rather than just theorising about it
  • A person capable of appreciating someone Else's hacking
  • A person who picks up programming quickly
  • A person who is an expert at a particular programming language or system, as in "UNIX hacker"
There Are 3 types of hacker
1. white hat hacker
A white hat is the hero or good guy, especially in computing slang, where it refers to an ethical hacker or penetration tester who focuses on securing and protecting IT systems.

2.Gray hat hackers
A grey hat, in the hacking community, refers to a skilled hacker who sometimes acts illegally, sometimes in good will, and sometimes not. They are a hybrid between white and black hat hackers. They usually do not hack for personal gain or have malicious intentions, but may or may not occasionally commit crimes during the course of their technological exploits

3.black hat hackers
A black hat is the villain or bad guy. The phrase is often used figuratively, especially in computing slang, where it refers to a hacker who breaks into networks or computers, or creates computer viruses. They does computer hacking for bad purpose.
